A Shan, Buddhist, was born in Loilem (Southeern Shan States),
on the 6 th. November, 1941.
His Parents were U Saw Naing and Daw Hla Hte.
Graduated in 1967 from Mandalay Arts & Science University, with English as his major subject.
Married to Daw Khin Htway Phyu in 1969.
Have three children, a son and two daughters.He has two early art teachers. One was his own father, who was a government officer but keen in art, and the other was close friend of his father, a famouns artist and sculptor of the Shan States, U San Pe.
In 1955, he won a prize from Shanker’s Weekly, Children’s Art Competition, which is held annually in New Dehli, India. During his career in Taunggyi, Shan state (1980-1997) as a graphic designer, signboard-painter, poster- painter and portrait-painter, he also made life-size sculptures of famous Sayadaws of the Shan States.
He specializes in painting portraits.
Some of his fine art works can be seen at The State Cultural Museum, Taunggyi and The State Cultural Museum, Nyaungshwe.
The whole family Shifted to Yangon in 1997.
He is now residing at the following address, mostly painting portraits and the like.
